Frequently Asked Questions About Wim Hof Method Training, Breathwork, and Recovery Workshops

What is the Wim Hof Method?

The Wim Hof Method is a training method that combines breathwork, cold exposure, and mindset training to help people improve physical and mental resilience. Scientific studies have shown the method can help regulate the immune system, reduce inflammation, improve stress tolerance, and increase mental clarity.

Through guided breathing techniques and safe cold exposure, participants learn how to work with their nervous system to improve energy, recovery, focus, and overall well-being.

Do I need prior experience to work with you?

No prior experience is required. My workshops and coaching sessions are designed to support complete beginners through to experienced athletes and high performers.

All practices—including breathwork, cold exposure, movement training, and nervous system regulation—are introduced in a safe and progressive way so everyone can participate at their own level.

When's the best time to do the breathing exercises?

The best time to practice Wim Hof breathing exercises is usually in the morning on an empty stomach. Practicing in the morning can help improve energy levels, mental clarity, and stress resilience for the rest of the day.

However, the breathing techniques can also be used later in the day to help reset the nervous system, improve focus, or support recovery after physical training.

Why barefoot/minimalist running?

Barefoot and minimalist running encourages the body to move the way humans evolved to run. Without thick cushioning, runners naturally develop softer foot strikes, better posture, and improved running mechanics.

Over time, this strengthens the feet, improves balance, and reduces excessive impact forces that often contribute to common running injuries affecting the knees, hips, and lower back.

Doesn't it hurt to run barefoot?

When the transition is done properly, barefoot running should not be painful. The key is learning the correct running technique and allowing the body time to adapt gradually.

Your feet contain many small muscles designed to support natural movement. With the right training, these muscles become stronger, your running form improves, and most people find running becomes lighter, more efficient, and more enjoyable.

Will this actually help my chronic pain, or is this just mindset work?

Chronic pain is influenced by both physical tissue health and nervous system regulation. These workshops don’t focus on “thinking your pain away,” but instead on giving you practical tools that support recovery and adaptation.

Breathwork, cold exposure, and movement practices can help reduce systemic inflammation, improve circulation and oxygenation, and retrain the nervous system, which can help many people better manage chronic pain and improve overall resilience.

How can breathwork and cold exposure help with addiction recovery?

Addiction often involves dysregulation of the nervous system and reward pathways in the brain. Practices such as breathwork and controlled cold exposure can help regulate stress responses, improve emotional balance, and support healthier dopamine regulation.

These tools help reduce cravings, improve stress tolerance, and provide healthier ways to build resilience and wellbeing during recovery.

Who is the trauma and addiction workshop suitable for?

The Trauma and Addiction Recovery Workshop is designed for people who want practical tools to support nervous system healing and long-term resilience.

It may be helpful for those who have experienced trauma, live with chronic stress, are in recovery from substance use, or want healthier ways to regulate their emotions and stress responses. The workshop is suitable for beginners as well as those already engaged in a recovery journey.
